(An Introduction to The Awakening Series)

“Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down.”

Don Henley sang those words in Dirty Laundry back in the 80s, and somehow they still fit. We’ve built an entire culture around bad news, constant criticism, and quick outrage. If it bleeds, it leads, and our hearts are exhausted from it.

Every scroll, every headline, every argument reminds us how divided and cynical the world has become. It’s not just tiring, it’s numbing. Somewhere between the noise and the chaos, faith has become background static faint, familiar, but easy to tune out.

It’s getting harder to recognize faith in a world that moves this fast. Louder voices get the attention. Quick takes replace quiet wisdom. And for many of us, faith feels less like a fire burning in our hearts and more like embers under the ash, waiting to be stirred again.

That’s why I’m writing this series, Finding Faith in What Feels Like a Faithless World. It’s my way of sitting down on the porch, taking a long breath, and asking, “What happened to us? How did we drift so far from stillness, from goodness, from God?”

I don’t have all the answers, but I know this: faith hasn’t disappeared. It’s just buried under the noise.

Why Faith Still Matters

Faith gives us something the world can’t manufacture. It gives us peace when everything feels uncertain. It gives us hope when logic tells us there’s none left. It gives us a reason to get up, love people, and try again when the world keeps breaking our hearts.

Without faith, life becomes a constant search for control. We chase the next fix, the next headline, the next promise of security. But faith reminds us that we don’t have to hold it all together. There is a God who already does.

Faith steadies our hearts in the chaos. It softens our edges when we want to harden. It whispers, Keep going, I’m still here.

That kind of faith isn’t naïve or blind. It’s anchored and real. It can hold questions, disappointments, and grief without collapsing.

And that’s the faith I want to talk about. The kind that grows quietly in real life, between loads of laundry, long workdays, and difficult conversations.

Why We Feel Disconnected

Many women I meet say the same thing: “I still believe in God, but I don’t feel connected to Him anymore.”

Maybe that’s you.

Maybe you’ve tried to pray but the words fall flat.
Maybe you used to feel close to God, but now you’re not sure where that closeness went.
Maybe you’ve seen so much division in His name that you’re not sure what to believe anymore.

You’re not broken for feeling that way. You’re human.

We live in a world that celebrates speed and independence, yet faith grows slowly and thrives on surrender. When life keeps pulling us to perform and produce, we forget how to be still long enough to sense God’s presence.

We think we’ve lost faith, but often we’ve just lost our focus.

What This Series Is About

Over the next few weeks, we’ll walk through three gentle reflections that I’m calling The Awakening Series. Each post will be a quiet invitation to notice, listen, and live differently.

  • Part 1: When the World Feels Faithless
How cynicism, noise, and distraction have numbed our ability to sense God and what it looks like to begin hearing again.
  • Part 2: Hearing the Whisper Again
How God still speaks through everyday life, through moments of beauty, kindness, and truth that slip through the cracks of our busy days.
  • Part 3: Living Light in the Dark
What it means to carry faith forward, to embody hope, and to quietly live as evidence that light still wins.

This series isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. You don’t need to fix your faith before you show up. You just need a little curiosity and an open heart.

The Invitation

If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ve probably noticed that things are shifting. My heart, my faith, my message they’re all finding a deeper rhythm. I’m walking a new path, one rooted in simplicity, truth, and a closer walk with God.

This isn’t about leaving the past behind. It’s about growing into what’s next.

If something in this post stirred something inside you  if you’ve been longing for real faith in a noisy world, for honest conversations that make you think and breathe and believe again I’d love for you to stay with me on this journey.

I’m creating a new space, one that feels a little quieter, a little braver, and a lot more real. It’s where I’ll be sharing what’s next: new reflections, stories of faith, and glimpses of what it looks like to live this out day by day.

Intuitive Business Coach

Hi, I’m Veronica Drake—but you can call me Vee.

I’m an Intuitive Mentor and founder of The School of Spiritual Arts, where I guide women (mostly over 50) to break free from the stories they’ve been handed and reconnect with who they truly are.

My work is spiritual, practical, and a little bit sassy. I’m not here to fix you—because you’re not broken. I’m here to help you remember your wisdom, trust your intuition, and live from your sacred truth.

When one woman owns her truth, it creates a ripple—and that’s how we begin to shift the world.

Fun facts? I’m obsessed with coffee, true crime, and I once worked on a real-life murder case. (Yep. Ask me about it sometime.)
