For the record… I didn’t wake up one morning and think, “You know what the world needs? Another woman with a catchy spiritual nickname.” Nope, I’m way too not woo woo, and far too busy chasing grandbabies and dust bunnies to brand myself with something I didn’t feel down to my bones.
The title Back Porch Prophet didn’t come from me. It came to me.
And the more I tried to shake it off, the more it sat in my spirit like, “Girl, stop fighting. This is who you are.”
But before we go any further, let’s get one thing straight:
When people hear the word prophet, they start imagining wild-eyed desert men yelling on mountaintops, predicting doom, gloom, and plagues of locusts. Absolutely not. Hard pass.
If that’s what you came for, honey, you’re on the wrong porch.
The prophets of Scripture weren’t drama queens forecasting the end of the world every ten minutes. They were relationship restorers. They were the folks God sent when His people had wandered off, distracted, overwhelmed, people-pleasing, anxious, numb, or spiritually exhausted.
In other words…
They were sent for people just like us.
Prophets Pointed People Back to Intimacy With God
Every single prophetic message in Scripture can be boiled down to this one line:
“Come back to God. He wants you close NOW.” and… that is what I am all about!
They all came with one assignment:
Call people back into relationship with Jesus.
Back into closeness.
Back into the arms of a God who loves you unconditionally
A God who isn’t looking for performance, but presence.
And that, my friend, is exactly what it means to be the Back Porch Prophet.
So What Does That Look Like Today?
Because listen… I’m not Isaiah. I’m a modern woman with a cozy porch swing, a warm cup of coffee in my hand, and a big heart for people who feel spiritually tired, disconnected, or unsure where they fit with God anymore.
I don’t predict the future.
I don’t claim mystical powers.
I don’t do theatrics.
I do one thing:
I call people back to the presence of God in the middle of their real, messy, beautiful lives.
Your laundry’s overflowing? God’s there.
You’re stuck? God’s there.
Your heart is aching? God’s there.
You’re scared, confused, numb, or hanging on by a thread? God is especially there.
You don’t need mountaintops. You need a moment. A breath. A quiet nudge back toward the One who loves you more than you can imagine.
Why the Porch?
Because the porch is where real conversations happen.
It’s where we drop the act.
It’s where we show up barefoot, undone, coffee in hand, and say,
“Here’s what’s going on with me… and here’s where I feel lost.”
It’s honest.
It’s intimate.
It’s simple.
And it’s sacred.
God doesn’t wait for you in a fancy sanctuary.
He meets you on your porch, in your kitchen, in your car, in your heartbreak, and in your hope.
I call myself the Back Porch Prophet because that’s where He meets me, and that’s where He’s invited me to meet you.
What You Can Expect From Me
If you pull up a chair on my porch, here’s what you’ll get:
1. Honest conversations. No sugar-coating.
I’m not here to entertain you or impress you.
I’m here to tell you God’s truth with love, clarity, and sometimes a little sass.
2. A simple, practical approach to walking with Jesus.
No spiritual gymnastics.
No twelve-step formulas.
No “just manifest it” nonsense.
Just everyday faith for everyday people.
3. A gentle, consistent call back to God.
Not religion.
Not performance.
Not pressure.
Just relationship.
4. Space to ask real questions.
Doubts, confusion, fear, frustration… bring them.
Prophets weren’t answer-machines. They were guides. They helped people discern, listen, and reconnect.
5. A reminder of who you are in God’s eyes.
Because life will make you forget.
People will label you.
Your past will whisper lies.
But God will never stop calling you His.
Your Heart Already Knows What It Needs
If you’re here, reading this, something in you is craving closeness with God again. You miss Him. You want to hear Him. You want the kind of peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances.
You don’t need a new personality.
You don’t need to be holier.
You don’t need to clean up your life first.
You just need to turn around… because He’s already right behind you.
That’s what the Back Porch Prophet is about.
Not me.
Not my brand.
Not a clever title.
It’s about creating simple, sacred space where your heart can hear the whisper that’s been calling you home:
“Come back to Me. I want you close.”

Hi, I’m Veronica Drake—but you can call me Vee.
I’m an Intuitive Mentor and founder of The School of Spiritual Arts, where I guide women (mostly over 50) to break free from the stories they’ve been handed and reconnect with who they truly are.
My work is spiritual, practical, and a little bit sassy. I’m not here to fix you—because you’re not broken. I’m here to help you remember your wisdom, trust your intuition, and live from your sacred truth.
When one woman owns her truth, it creates a ripple—and that’s how we begin to shift the world.
Fun facts? I’m obsessed with coffee, true crime, and I once worked on a real-life murder case. (Yep. Ask me about it sometime.)
